It's colder in the basement

It has taken me about a month to get things done enough that I could write this post. As the weather got hotter and the basement got cooler, I realized that this is a space we will want to hang out in soon! Here is the before picture of the living space in the basement, before we even bought the house!

This is what the room has looked like for the first three months that we lived in the house. Totally unusable, we barely even walked into this room, only long enough to find something that was still packed or store something else!

Argh! It was such a mess!

And Ta-Da! The after picture! We took out the stove and sold it on craigslist. Our plan is to build a built-in entertainment center where the stove used to be. The walls down here are the same color as upstairs.
Finally we can see the other couch again!
If you didn't see this at our wedding Bryce's Grandpa made it for us out of wood from the old farm in Eastern Montana. This is the first time we have been able to get it out of the box since our wedding.
We have our housewarming party coming up in less than two weeks! So we should have lots to report in the next few days as we work to get everything beautiful before our party!

  1. The room looks beautiful. Grandpa would be so happy to see the buckboard out!!! You'll have to turn the sign around . . . right now it shows you headed to loneliness and clearly the two of you are headed for happily ever after! :o)

  2. Basements are the best during the summer! I miss that about the house I grew up in (probably because we don't have a basement). Your room looks great and I like the warmer color on the walls.
